OPENING OF REGISTRATIONS FOR THE MASTER’S, DOCTORATE AND DIRECT DOCTORATE COURSES OF THE POSTGRADUATE PROGRAM OF INTERNAL MEDICINE.

The Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo,  publicly announces the opening of registrations for the Master’s, Doctorate and Direct Doctorate  courses of the Postgraduate Program of Medicine (Internal Medicine) to be started during the 1st semester of 2023.

  1. PROCESS PERIOD:

Candidates who register from October 24 to 30, 2022 will take a connection test (training) and a written test and discussion from November 1 to 30, 2022

Registration hours are from 9:00 h to 23:59 h.

Candidates who register from November 1, 2022 to January 22, 2023 will take a connection test (training) and a written test and discussion from January 24 to February 17, 2023.

Registration hours are from 9:00 h to 23:59 h.

After registering online the candidate will have to take the connectivity test (training); failure to do so will imply cancellation of the candidate’s registration.

The specific definition of the dates will depend on the quantity of enrolled candidates.

IMPORTANT :

Send the Project and the evaluation form before the closing date of enrollment to the following e-mail address: [email protected]

The bank slip (boleto) must be generated before the closing date of registration. After this date, the system will be closed and the registration of the candidates who did not generate the bank slips (boletos) will be canceled. The payment voucher must be sent for the candidate to be able to take the written test.

  1. PROCEDURE OF THE SELECTIVE PROCESS ONLINE:

Written Test:

Written test (weight 1): Eliminatory character. A minimum grade of 5 is required. The test will consist of a general text and will last a maximum of 2 hours, and its objective is to test the critical interpretation of a scientific text, the ability of synthesis, the organization of ideas, and writing. On an exceptional basis, the test will be applied online and recommendations will be given  before it on the site of the Program.

The candidate will take the written text at a distance within the established routine, which will be fully presented before the test.

Before the test and after approval of the registration, there will be a test (training) of the system and of connectivity which is mandatory, under penalty of being disqualified. This test will be scheduled by the secretary office according to the dates of the selective process. To find out about the dates Click here.

The equipment needed for the test, as described below, must be obtained and tested by the candidate. The PPG-CM will not provide equipment, informatics resources or test sites to the candidates.

Requirements:

1 – Notebook or Macbook computer (with a functional camera, loudspeaker and microphone) set up to employ the Google Meet program. It is necessary to use the Chrome or Firefox navigator.

2 – Cell phone (smartphone or tablet type) or a second notebook/Macbook with a camera. This second device will function as a surveillance camera to be positioned behind and to the right of the candidate for a panoramic visualization of the monitor, keyboard, mouse and hands of the candidate during the test. It will work “on mute”. Each device will provide simultaneous separate access during the webconference.

3 – Connection to the electrical network (connected charger) for both devices throughout the test.

4 – Connection to the internet with sufficient velocity for videoconference for both devices throughout the test. Loss of signal and/or insufficient connection during the test will disqualify the candidate even though their occurrence is out of the candidate’s control.

Period of the connectivity test:

Please schedule with the secretary office the time when you wish to take the test within the days listed.

Curriculum Evaluation Form:

Discussion:

The discussion will be done by webconference, Google Meet app.

Master’s:

Oral discussion of the Project and Curriculum Analysis: The candidate will present the Project with or without the aid of Power-Point presentation (his choice) over a period of 20 minutes and will be questioned about knowledge and the value of the Project in front of the examination board, consisting of 3 (three) members chosen by the CCP by webconference, when the discussion of the Research Project and the items of the Curriculum Evaluation Form will be evaluated.

Doctorate/Direct Doctorate:

Discussion of the Research Project (weight 2): The candidate will have to orally present the research Project over a period of up to 20 minutes (preferably with Power Point presentation),  mainly addressing his goals and the methodology used in front of the examination board, consisting of 3 (three) members chosen by the CCP by webconference. Each evaluator will give a score (0 to 10), considering the following items:
1- Originality and Innovative Potential of the Project: (0 to 2)
2- Well defined objectives: (0 to 2)
3- Type of study to be emplolyed to achieve the objectives defined in the project: (0 to 1)
4- Domain of the methodology to be used: (0 to 3)
5- Feasability of execution of the Project within the period of the course: (0 to 2).

  1. CURRICULUM EVALUATION FORM:

The candidate will have to fill out the evaluation form with his name, and place in the QUANTITY field a number corresponding to to the quantity of items he owns; for example, if he owns 3 scientific books with ISBN, he should place the number of 3 in the quantity field and the worksheet will automatically calculate the score.

The candidate will fill out the evaluation form and send the vouchers, and the examining board will check if the score given on the form agrees with the documentation presented. If the candidate fills in the score without proving it with the documentation, the score will not be validated.

CURRICULUM VOUCHERS: The examining board will evaluate the Curriculum Evaluation Form and the documents sent up to the last day of registration.

  1. Graduation Diploma (front and back);
  2. Master’s Diploma (if he has one – front and back);
  3. Proof of Scientific Initiation (with a fellowship);
  4. Proof that he did Monitoring (a minimum of 6 months with a fellowship);
  5. Certificate of Improvement (FUNDAP); Residency; Specialization.
  6. Proof of publication of:
  7. Abstracts published in the annals of national congresses (only as the 1st or 2nd author) or presentation of articles at international congresses (only as the 1st or 2nd author);
    • Articles published in international journals (Journals indexed in JCR or Scopus);
  8. Articles published in national journals (Journals not indexed in JCR or Scopus);
  9. Chapters of Scientific Books with ISBN;
  10. Scientific books with ISBN.

  1. PROJECT ELABORATION:

Instructions:

Research Project elaborated by the candidate in a clear manner, consisting of a maximum of 20 pages of A4 sheets and 12 font, excluding the cover and summary. Projects of more than 20 pages will not be accepted. To be sent online or by e-mail.

The 20 pages should contain the following:

We inform that, in previous processes, two articles were requested for the written test, one of them general for all candidates and a specific one chosen by the candidate.

However, in the process of the second semester of 2020, only one specific article was requested for the written test.

FORMS:

1) Initial Enrollment Application Form with a recent 3 x 4 photo on white background .Check your data, sign and obtain the signature of your adviser. Please send the form already with the photo.

2)Commitment term.

3)English Proficiency: Presentation of a copy of one of the following exams: TEAP, TOEFL, ALUMNI, IELTS, CAMBRIDGE or MICHIGAN. Five-year validity, considering a score equal to or higher than: Master’s: 60% (TEAP) or 50% (other exams) of the maximum grade.  Doctorate/Direct Doctorate: 70% (TEAP) and 50% (other exams). Other exams and their respective minimum grades could be analyzed by the CCP if so requested by the candidate;

4)Copy of the Graduation diploma  duly registered (front and back) or copy of the Certificate of Completion, with the mandatory presence of the date of the degree awarded in an officially recognized Graduation course. In the case of delivery of a certificate, it is mandatory to provide proof of the diploma of the Graduation course within a maximum period of one year starting from the date of enrollment in Post-Graduation. Diplomas obtained in Short Degree, Operation Engineering etc. will not be accepted except in special cases of academic merit confirmed by a Committee specifically constituted by CCP and approved by CPG and by the Chamber of Rules and Appeals (Câmara de Normas e Recursos) of CoPGr, according to Art. 40 of the Postgraduation Regiment;

5)Copy of the Graduation Academic Transcript, containing the data of graduation (finalized) and  the student record or equivalent document containing eventual flunked tests and closures emitted by the graduation and postgraduation secretary office, student section or equivalent official organ;

6)Copy of the Master’s diploma or certificate of completion (or certificate with the expected date for defense of the dissertation and for obtaining the Master’s title, which should precede the first day of enrollment);

7)Copy of the Master’s Academic Transcript of a Postgraduation program recognized by CAPES (with a concept of 3 or higher) for Doctorate candidates with a previous Master’s title. If the Master’s course (Or Master title) was obtained at a university outside Brazil::

a) the candidate will be selected for Direct Doctorate;

b) if the candidate is selected for Direct Doctorate, an individual analysis may be carried out to request equivalence of the Master’s title for the count of credits for the Doctorate. In this case, the candidate will be enrolled in the Direct Doctorate and, if the equivalence is approved by the Curricular Chamber of CoPGr, he will be transferred from the Direct Doctorate course to the Doctorate course.

If the Master’s course (or Master title), recognized by CAPES, was obtained outside USP, the candidate will be selected for the Doctorate and the Examining Committee will perform an individual analysis to require the equivalence of the Master’s title for the counting of credits for the Doctorate, indicating or not for approval by the CCP, the requirements to be fulfilled by the candidate during the course. If approved by the CCP, the candidate will be enrolled in the Doctorate;

9)Copy of the Birth Certificate or Marriage Certificate (or an equivalente document for foreigners);

10)Copy of the Identity Card (RG or equivalent document for foreigners) (Professional Registrations or CNH will not be accepted);

11)Copy of the CPF;

12)Copy of “Título de Eleitor” (Voter Registration) (except for foreigners);

13)Copy of a Military document (only for male candidates, except for foreigners);

14)For foreign candidates (in addition to the above documents):

15)Copy of the National Registration for Foreigners (RNE) or RNE Protocol;

16)Passaport, with visa for entering the country.

Foreign students

 Copy of a valid identity document and of a temporary or permanent visa that authorizes the candidate to study in Brazil

. Examples of these documents for foreigners: “Carteira de Registro Nacional Migratório” (National Migration Registration Card - CRNM) or “Registro Nacional para Estrangeiro”(National Registration for Foreigners – RNE) or RNE Protocol and passport.

Observation: Registration and enrollment of foreign candidates in the postgraduation programs will be authorized on an exceptional basis, with presentation of the passport with a student visa accompanied by scheduling of Registration/Issuance of a Foreigner Identity Card issued by the Federal Police. After the student appears at the Federal Police on the scheduled date, he will have to presente to the Postgraduation Secretary Office the protocol/document issued by the Federal Police, with the RNE number within a maximum of 15 days for the regularization of registration in the Janus system.
